HAIDI has been deployed by the Motol University Hospital. The company’s expansion abroad will be supported by a new investment.

Healthcare professionals are being assisted in identifying risks associated with hospital infections, generating more accurate outputs, and saving hours of time – the HAIDI tool from the Czech technology company Datlowe is now being used by the Czech largest healthcare facility – the Motol University Hospital. HAIDI was also deployed in hospitals in České Budějovice, Prachatice, and Písek. Today, it helps medical doctors and other specialists in more than a third of the total bed capacity of Czech hospitals. Datlowe, which has launched its second product MERIE in hospitals this year, has recently been supported in its growth and expansion abroad by the investment company 22 Hor Invest, founded by the Horváth couple after their exit from GeneProof. In addition to capital and healthtech knowledge, they bring experience in research and clinical practice to the Czech company.

Three thousand standard pages of text – that’s the volume of data generated by a medium-sized Czech hospital every day. This data is very valuable as it contains a huge amount of information and context that has the potential to significantly improve healthcare quality. However, processing and evaluating data manually is very inefficient and demanding for healthcare staff. Our technology relieves them of this routine and helps deliver useful outputs,” explains the potential of Datlowe’s products, co-founder and CEO Jakub Kozák.

Identifying risks and saving time

The first technology that Datlowe introduced to hospitals is HAIDI. It helps staff interpret healthcare data into an overview of potential risks caused by hospital infections. Doctors’ experience has shown that it can save up to 80% of the time that experts spend on identifying these risks every day.

The HAIDI technology has recently been put into operation at the Motol University Hospital, which is not only the largest healthcare facility in the Czech Republic but also one of the largest in Europe. In addition to Motol University Hospital, HAIDI is now helping in hospitals in České Budějovice, Prachatice, and Písek. Together, it helps improve healthcare for more than a third of acute and follow-up care beds. It is also deployed in Austria and Slovakia.

The fact that our product is being used by such a crucial healthcare center as Motol University Hospital is a major milestone for our company. The smooth deployment of our technology would not have been possible without the exceptional cooperation with the Information Systems Department. I believe that the results of HAIDI at Motol University Hospital will contribute to its further expansion not only in Czech but also in foreign hospitals. I am also very pleased with the positive feedback that HAIDI has received from specialists at Písek Hospital,” says Kozák.

The HAIDI technology is truly a valuable tool for us. It helps us identify a significantly larger number of health risks and contexts that we would achieve only with great difficulty through manual analysis. Thanks to automation, we can better set preventive measures and save hours of time that our staff can devote to patient care,” describes the expectations and initial experiences with HAIDI, MUDr. Jarmila Rážová, Ph.D., head physician of the Department of Hospital Hygiene and Epidemiology at Motol University Hospital.

The second technology from Datlowe, which experts in Czech hospitals are using today, is MERIE. It analyzes all available healthcare data and helps clinical pharmacists identify patients at risk of medication problems. MERIE saves time that would otherwise be spent on routine screening of all patients and allows them to focus on those where the development of medication-related problems is likely.

With new investment into foreign markets

Datlowe has recently been supported in its growth by the investment company 22 Hor Invest, founded by the Horváth couple after their successful exit from the biotechnology company GeneProof. In addition to capital and expertise, they bring experience from the highly regulated field of medical device development and certification.

When I started in 1995 as one of the first in our country with the diagnosis of serious infectious diseases using PCR, I believed that this technology would significantly change the field of diagnostics and have a major impact on more effective patient treatment. Currently, the game changer for me is the ability to use and process a huge amount of unstructured healthcare data in hospitals with the help of artificial intelligence,” says Radek Horváth. Datlowe intends to use the invested funds primarily for technological development and scaling of its products, as well as expansion into other foreign markets.

We founded 22 Hor Invest with the aim of supporting interesting projects, especially in the healthtech field, which we know well and where we can use our extensive knowledge and experience. Datlowe impressed us not only with its high level of professionalism and expertise but also with its team of great people. We are very much looking forward to the collaboration,” adds Pavla Horváthová.

The support we have received from the Horváth couple is crucial for the development of our company and technologies. It brings our team not only capital and extensive managerial experience in the field of medical device development but also professional experience from the clinical environment and a desire to engage in product development. I believe they will be a great asset to our team,” adds Kozák.
